We approach our vision of sustainably preserving the natural ecosystem of the rainforest in two ways. We counteract the clearing of forests through their sustainable management and fair trade. With local reforestation projects, we dedicate ourselves to restoring already cleared and degraded areas - in cooperation with local communities.
In cooperation with local NGOs, we have planted over 2.5 million trees in the Amazon rainforest. We ensure that the trees we plant survive by planting suitable native tree species and monitoring their growth together with our NGO partners.
We have saved over 12 million trees from being uprooted by offering a financial incentive to smallholder farmers in Brazil to continue agroforestry with açai instead of clearing their land to grow soy or raise livestock.
The food industry is responsible for a quarter of global greenhouse gas emissions - we want to change that. With our sustainable sourcing and production processes, we are shifting the status quo of the food industry with the aim of protecting the climate.
Based on a life cycle analysis, the Eaternity Institute awarded our Frozen Açaí Puree and Organic Açaí Bowl To Go a full 12 stars for their sustainability - the highest possible score.
In 2020, we became B Corp certified. As such, we meet the world's highest standards for verified social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability for business.
We donate 10 cents from each of our products sold to socio-ecological projects in the Amazon that are dedicated to reforesting deforested and degraded land and helping local communities maintain and build sustainable livelihoods.
Açaí is seeded before being pureed and flash-frozen. The seed makes up 90% of the fruit. Instead of disposing of the seeds, we recycle them further - in dried form they serve as biofuel in the processing procedure.
